NXT LVL Dental Assistant Instructors
Dr. Deborah Staten, DMD
A Las Vegas native, Dr. Staten earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Chemistry minor at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Pursuing her passion led her to earn her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, also from UNLV.
Currently serving as a Major in Nevada’s Army Reserve’s Medical Detachment, Dr. Staten also holds active memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Dental Education Association and the American Association of Women Dentists.
When she’s not at the office, Dr. Staten enjoys having fun with her friends and family. An avid skier, both on the slopes and in the water, Dr. Staten also enjoys golfing, boating, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Staten fun fact: I started my dental career as a dental assistant in my twenties. I enjoy what we do so much that I went to school through my thirties and graduated, becoming a dentist at the age of forty.
Marleny Delgado, RDH
Marleny was born and raised in West Covina, California. She has been a hygienist since 2008. She relocated to Las Vegas with her family in 2011 and has been working at Desert Hills Dental for the past 9 years. Marleny is married and has 3 children.
Marleny believes in NXT LVL Dental Assistant School because dentistry is in need of highly qualified DAs. She believes the program will educate students with the skills necessary to succeed and perform at a high level allowing them to provide quality dental care to the community.
When not at work, Marleny spends most of her time traveling with her kids to their sporting events. She is also very crafty; doing pretty much anything from cake decorating to woodworking. She enjoys all things DIY. Marleny is currently working alongside her husband on a full home renovation.
How Marleny got into dentistry: I remember as a child always hearing the word “gingivitis” when going to the dentist; that always stood out to me and wanted to know more about it. I also had a cousin that was a Dental Hygienist which I found to be very interesting. When graduating High School I decided to enroll in a DA program to see if I enjoyed working in the field prior to continuing my education as a Hygienist.
